A man has been hospitalised following a serious assault in Johnstone.
The male was rushed away in an ambulance by medics following the attack this afternoon.
Police have locked down a street in the town as they investigate the incident.
A number of police cars and ambulance crews were seen on William Street around 3.57pm today, with a portion of the street sealed off by police tape.
Officers could also be seen patrolling the area, ensuring the public remained clear of the scene.
Officers remain at the scene tonight, and forensic officers could be seen searching the area shortly after 6pm.
The location is 5-7 William Street, right outside the Penmans pharmacy.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Houstoun Square in Johnstone at around 3.45pm on Thursday, March 23, after a man was the victim of a serious assault.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries remain ongoing. Officers remain at the scene.”
