Cops lock down Scots road after car smashes into lamppost ripping it from its base

Police have launched a probe after a motor crashed into a lamppost in Dundee.

Officers were alerted to the incident at Lochee Road, near the junction with Polepark Road, in the city at around 5:25pm on Friday, July 7.

Emergency services remain at the scene and police have locked down the road. It remains unclear whether there are any injuries at this stage.

A Police Scotland spokeperson said: "We were called around 5.25pm, Friday July 7, following a report of a crash involving one vehicle hitting a lamp post.

"Emergency services are on the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
