Missing Scots teen found after frantic cops launch search

A schoolboy who vanished from Aberdeenshire has been found, according to police.

Daniel Ritchie had been last seen leaving an address in Portlethen at around 10am on Tuesday, April 19.

Police said there were growing concerns for the 14-year-old's welfare as a search got underway.

Officers urged members of the public to assist in finding the teen who has links to both Aberdeen City and Abderdeenshire, as well as Dundee, and regularly travels by bus.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning police confirmed that Daniel had been found 'safe and well'.

Cops thanked all those who helped with their investigation.

North East Police Division released an official statement on their Facebook page.

It read: "Police Scotland are pleased to report that 14-year-old Daniel Ritchie reported missing from the Portlethen area has been traced safe and well.

"We would like to thank all persons who assisted in this enquiry."
