Cops launch appeal after OAP killed in three-car crash on Lanarkshire road

Police in Carluke are appealing for information following a fatal road crash in the town last week.

The incident happened at around 3.40pm on the A721, Kilncadzow Road, on Tuesday (August 16).

That saw an 81-year-old man, the driver of a Toyota Aygo, killed at the scene.

A three-vehicle crash near the road’s junction with Leemuir Farm, Carluke, a female driver of a grey Peugeot was also injured.

She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow where she was treated for her injuries and has since been discharged. The male driver of the third car, a white Audi, was not injured.

Sergeant Roy McCarney told Lanarkshire Live : “A number of members of the public came to help those involved in the crash and we have spoken to most of them.

“However, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened and who has not yet been in touch with police.

“I am particularly keen to obtain any dash-cam footage of the crash or the area beforehand if possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.
