Cops investigate after lifesaving equipment stolen from rural fire station in Lanarkshire

Police in Biggar are asking for help from the public after lifesaving equipment was stolen from the rural community fire station.

The building was broken into and damaged around 1.10am on Wednesday morning (January 11).

Chief Inspector Graeme McLaughlin told Lanarkshire Live: “I find it disheartening that people would target an emergency service in this way and steal what is essentially lifesaving equipment.

“An investigation is ongoing and local officers are working in conjunction with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“Additional patrols will be ongoing to ensure the security of fire stations, but the public are essential in assisting us with our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with information, no matter how trivial you may think it is, to contact police.

“I would also encourage anyone who’d like to give information anonymously to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or fill out their online form.”

The fire station is based on Station Road, Biggar.
