Cops in Lanarkshire issue fresh appeal for missing Karen Stevenson as search continues

Police have issued a fresh appeal for missing woman, Karen Stevenson, who was last seen two weeks ago.

She was last spotted walking on Seafar Road, near McGregor Road in Cumbernauld at around 3.15am on Saturday, February 19.

The 42-year-old has been described as 5ft 1ins tall, of a slim build with long brown hair.

Karen was wearing a cream long sleeve t-shit with a graphic design, a purple jacket with a fur lined hood, black leggings and black ankle boots when she was last seen. She may also have been carrying a small pink handbag, with metal studs and a chain strap.

Karen's family remain greatly concerned and anxious about her disappearance.

In a statement, they said: “This is completely unusual for Karen and she has never been missing before.

“The whole family are really worried and would like Karen to get in contact with anybody to let us know she is safe.

“If anyone has any information at all then please contact the police as soon as you can."

Inspector Susan Rae, of Cumbernauld Police Station, said: “Two weeks have now passed since Karen went missing and her family remain greatly concerned and anxious.

“Through our enquiries, we know the last sighting of Karen was in Seafar Road at around 3.15am on Saturday, February 19.

“Officers returned to Seafar Road in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, March 5) to speak to members of the public and motorists, to ask if they have any information that could assist our enquiries.

“A total of 47 individuals were stopped and engaged with.

“We are also identifying further CCTV opportunities in the area and in particular would welcome assistance from local businesses or residents who may have private CCTV.

“I would like to thank the public for the tremendous support they have given so far in helping us to trace Karen.

Police Scotland officers were also seen combing through a wooded area around Allanfauld Road in Cumbernauld earlier this week.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101,
