Police are hunting two men after a distillery was broken into and £150,000 worth of whisky bottles swiped at the weekend.
The Glenfarclas at Ballindalloch was ransacked on Sunday, with photographs showing smashed up cabinets which housed expensive bottles of alcohol.
Detectives in the North East have urged the public to be aware of alcohol being sold at a discounted price.
The Grant family - who own and run the business - made a desperate appeal after products were stolen from their visitor centre.
Glenfarclas said yesterday the "thieves clearly knew what they wanted" in a Facebook post.
The 20 bottles stolen - worth an average of £7,500 each - are the oldest and most valuable Family Casks, and included a 60-year-old bottle.
Thieves broke into the distillery sometime between 5.15pm on Friday, 13 May and 10am on Sunday, 15, May, 2022.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Skene of CID in Aberdeen said : “We are looking to trace two men in connection with break-in.
"We believe the men travelled to the area and we would appeal to hoteliers, bed and breakfast establishments and Airbnb premises to get in touch if they suspect anyone of being suspicious.
“Those responsible will be looking to sell on the alcohol. If you are offered alcohol at a discounted price, you would be wise to suspect it has been stolen. It is a criminal offence to buy stolen goods.
"We would appeal to anyone with any information to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting 1328 of Sunday, 15 May, 2022.”
