Cops hunt ‘hit and run driver’ after three girls knocked down on Scots street leaving two hurt

Police in Renfrewshire are hunting a motorist who knocked down three teenagers in Linwood before fleeing the scene almost a month ago.

The 16-year-olds were crossing the road at Bridge Street, near the junction with Napier Street, when they were struck by the suspect vehicle at around 4pm on November 26.

The driver initially stopped but then fled the scene. Two of the girls attended hospital but it’s understood that they were not seriously injured.

Police were notified the following day and their enquiries have since established that a white Volkswagen was involved. Officers are keen to speak with members of the public who may have additional dash cam footage or information.

Constable Kirsty MacGregor said: “We are appealing to people who may have been in the area at the time to think back and consider if they saw this incident or if they remember seeing the car.

“There are several shops in this area and it would have been busy with people. I would also ask any motorists wish dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could assist the investigation.

“Any small piece of information could prove vital in helping us locate the driver of the car.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2310 of 27 November, 2022.
