Police have launched a probe after a fire was 'started deliberately' at a home in Fife.
Emergency services raced to Chalmers Street in Dunfermline after the alarm was raised at around 10.10pm on Wednesday. Pictures taken from the scene revealed fire crews battling the inferno in the communal area of the property on the street.
Smoke was seen billowing up into the sky while emergency services dealt with the incident. Ambulance crews attended and an man was treated for smoke inhalation.
Officers from Police Scotland have now confirmed they are treating the fire as 'wilful' and they are following a positive line of enquiry.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.10pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, we were called to a report of a fire in the Chalmers Street area of Dunfermline. Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.
"There are no reported injuries. The fire is being treated as wilful and officers are following a positive line of enquiry."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 10.03pm on Wednesday, June 7 to reports of a dwelling fire at Chalmers Street, Dunfermline. Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish a fire affecting a communal area.
"One male was treated for smoke inhalation by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews ventilated the affected area and left after making the area safe."
