Scots cops were alerted to a late-night collision and discovered the driver to be under the influence of cannabis.
Dunbar Road Police after receiving reports of the crash at Newtongrange, Midlothian, and the say the driver tested positive for drugs.
Images from the scene show a motor that apparently collided with a roadside barrier, with considerable damage to the front of the vehicle and debris lying across the road.
Another image Police Scotland shared on Twitter shows the drivers positive test for cannabis.
In the tweet Police Scotland warned drivers they will be testing for drugs throughout the year.
It stated: "Dunbar Road Police were called to a collision in Newtongrange where they found this driver to be under the influence of cannabis.
"The festive campaign maybe over but we are still out there testing people for drink and drugs."
