CCTV of Wayne Couzens flashing at female McDonald’s staff was shown to police hours before he kidnapped and murdered Sarah Everard, a tribunal has heard.
Ex-PC Samantha Lee is said to have failed to obtain crucial evidence after the Met policeman targeted staff in Swanley, Kent, on February 14 and 27, 2021, the last three days before he went on to kill.
Yesterday, McDonald’s manager Sam Taylor said he played PC Lee footage and told her it could be downloaded on to a USB stick.
“I showed her on the actual screen in the office,” he said. “I showed her what I looked at before using the time from the receipts and it shows the car coming around.”
He said he explained Couzens’ registration plate could be seen in the CCTV footage of the second incident. Mr Taylor told the misconduct hearing in Southwark, Central London, he gave her Couzens’ receipts from the two incidents, and witness statements.
Lee, known as “Officer Naughty” on her OnlyFans page, attended the restaurant on March 3, but did not log CCTV of Couzens in the Seat Exeo he would use that night to kill Sarah. Ms Lee is alleged to have lied when questioned, as she claimed she believed the CCTV deleted automatically.
Couzens is serving a whole life sentence for murdering Sarah, 33.
On March 12, a meeting was held between PC Lee and her commanding officer Inspector Rita Jones, after Couzens’ arrest three days earlier.
Ms Jones said she was “shocked” to discover Lee had not placed the statements in a sealed bag.
Lee denies the allegations.
