Cooper Kupp day-to-day with lateral ankle sprain

Cooper Kupp missed the first four games of the season with a hamstring injury after being sidelined for the final eight games of 2022 with an ankle injury. It’s been a rough 12 months for the 2021 All-Pro, especially after he went down with yet another ankle injury in Sunday’s win over the Seahawks.

Kupp exited in the first half after getting his ankle stepped on and he was unable to return. Sean McVay said afterwards that Kupp was going to try to get back in the game, but he wasn’t 100% so the Rams held him out.

On Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Kupp has a sprained ankle and is considered day-to-day.

Schefter notes that with Kupp’s history of ankle injuries, the Rams will be cautious with their star receiver.

Sean McVay said during his media session later on Monday that Kupp has a lateral sprain and the goal is for him to play against Arizona.

“Yeah, it’ll be day-to-day. It was just a lateral ankle sprain so that was positive news for us,” McVay said. “I know he’s going to do everything in his power, but I think it’s definitely favorable where that’s a real possibility that he would be available. It’s not something where you’re saying he’s definitely going to be out for this week, but you want to see the functionality.”

If Kupp unable to go against the Cardinals on Sunday, Austin Trammell could see an increase in snaps as he did against the Seahawks this weekend.
