In a burst of positivity a new shop has opened in Perth’s High Street.
The gift shop is called Hell Yeah! and is located at 283 High Street, just down from Blend and near Howie’s.
It is open from 10am-4pm every day until Christmas and in the new year is likely to be open all days except Sundays and Mondays.
And it is more than just gifts according to the shop’s founder, Zoe Brennan (35).
“It’s a gift shop but also an eco shop, we’ve got soaps, toys and kind cleaning products,” said the stationery enthusiast who has another outlet in Glasgow.
“I’m vegan myself and I really think as a retailer, its important to have an ecological focus. Some people say switching one thing like to how you clean your dishes has changed their life. The coconut scourers are really popular and last, like, forever. Loofahs do really well too. If you fancy making a small change, think cleaning products.
“I am a big fan of shampoo bars myself. Did you know that one solid bar of shampoo is effective for the equivalent of three normal bottles of liquid shampoo? It’s great for your pocket as well as for the plastic saved.
“Laundry eggs have had a lot of coverage, they really save on energy and help clean clothes.”
Zoe is delighted to open this shop in the city where she grew up. She went to Perth Academy before moving to study graphic design in Dundee. After that she started her business in Glasgow. But 12 years on her thoughts turned to coming back to Perth where her parents are.
She added: “Home is home. I felt the time is right to move back to Perth. We have a special thing going on here.
“Glasgow people like to shop in the afternoons, like everything happens between 3pm and 5pm.
“But in the two weeks we have been open I’ve found Perth is the complete opposite, folk here are in the mood to buy in the morning.
“Reaction to us opening has been pretty amazing. Yes, all things considered, the footfall has been really great. One said it was so nice to see a new shop selling cool stuff when there has been so much closing in the town.”
