A Cooks Hill pub has sought development approval from Newcastle council to trade for an additional two hours each night.
Marvan Hotels wants to extend the closure time of its Darby Street venue Hotel Delany from midnight to 2am Monday to Saturdays and from 10pm to midnight on Sundays.
The venue sought a similar extension in 2017 but it was knocked back after opposition from neighbours.
A new development application before the council says the pub would have a "staged shutdown" to "reduce noise and ease the management of patron dispersal".
At midnight, the pub's first floor would close and the venue's capacity limited to 300.
At 1am, this would be reduced to 120 persons and only the lounge bar and gaming room would be open for the final hour of trade.
An acoustic report says the hotel, which is being renovated, would comply with the relevant noise criteria between midnight and 2am.
Public submissions about DA2021/00962 can be made until August 12.
