Converted Boeing 747 plane lets guests sleep in the cockpit and eat on the roof

Adventurous tourists who feel they haven't spent enough time on a plane this summer can live in a converted 747.

Being stuck on a stationary commercial jet is an experience hundreds of thousands of people have already had this summer.

For those who haven't been left traumatised by flight slots slipping by while they sit on an increasingly uncomfortable seat can also spend their holiday onboard.

On the outskirts of Sweden’s Arlanda Airport in Stockholm lies the Jumbo Stay Hotel plane, which looks like a regular aircraft to anyone peering at the site.

But, the hotel, which recently went viral on TikTok, is actually a renovated Boeing 747 that you can sleep inside.

The plane was originally build for Singapore Airlines in 1976, news.com.au reports.

But, The Points Guy showed that it was now a kitted out hotel stay with plush beds, a large dining table and entertainment area.

The travel blog said: “For starters, you can walk right out onto the wings of the aircraft with tables and chairs set up to enjoy a drink or a snack.

“You can eat breakfast in the nose of the aircraft and enjoy a buffet in the retro dining space while reading all about the history of the 747.

“While the cockpit seats have been removed to maximise sleeping space, you can still sit on the edge of the mattress and live out your pilot fantasy like we did.”

There’s a fully functioning bathroom and shower, as well as picnic tables on the roof so you can enjoy the sunshine.

And, aviation fans can play with the non-functioning buttons and levels in the cockpit.

There are a number of room types available, from single en-suites to dorm rooms and standard rooms.

Prices start from £36 a night and go up to £148 a night for the cockpit suite or £150 for the black box room.

In the comments, people went wild for the cool stay.

One person said: “I’d love to go there.”

“That price is not that bad,” added another.
