Taylor Swift, American Shake It Off hitmaker, and the star of Conversations with Friends Joe Alwyn sparked engagement rumours at the beginning of the year.
The loved up couple are reportedly engaged, according to multiple sources who confirmed the exciting news to Life & Style. A mini-break to Cornwall in January earlier this year is thought to be when the pair became engaged. Despite multiple reports of the starry engagement, the fiercely private couple has yet to make an announcement about a possible wedding.
The couple has been together since 2016. Although they are very rarely seen together in public, they did attend the 2022 Oscars award show party together. Joe Alwyn may be informally known as Mr Taylor Swift, but the talented actor is already stacking up his list of accomplishments.
The English actor's breakout role came in 2016 in Ang Lee's war film, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. He was cast in the lead role playing a traumatised US Army specialist.
Joe gave another performance which garnered critical acclaim in 2018. He played British nobleman Samuel Masham in the multi-award-winning The Favourite starring Oliva Coleman and Rachel Weisz.
Other meaty roles followed including performances in biographical drama Harriet and television series A Christmas Carol. Joe can currently be seen in Conversations with Friends, a television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel.
Joe’s musical accomplishments are just as high-profile as his acting achievements. He co-produced numerous songs on Taylor Swift’s eighth album, Folklore, two of which he co-wrote under the pseudonym William Bowery.
Taylor is a fan of her beau’s musical work too. The Grammy-award winning singer said in her Disney Plus documentary that Joe is a natural on the piano.
She said: "I was like, ‘Hey, this could be really weird and we could hate this, [but] because we’re in quarantine and there’s nothing else going on, could we just try to write this song together?"
Taylor went on to praise his fresh point of view on her music. She said: “I thought it sounded really good from a masculine perspective.”
The couple clearly value their privacy. Speaking to Vogue whilst trying to avoid broaching the subject of his famous other half, Joe said: “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people.”
