Controversial kickboxer Andrew Tate banned from Instagram and Facebook

Kick-boxing world champion Andrew Tate was today removed from major social media platforms Instagram and Facebook for allegedly breaking their terms of service.

The former combat athlete, who has a win over UFC star Luke Barnatt from his MMA days, has risen to massive prominence in recent months, particularly on Instagram and Tik Tok through short videos shared by fans. He had around 4.7million followers on Instagram when his account was banned today by Meta, who also oversee Facebook which banned him simultaneously.

Meta told the BBC he was removed from its platforms for violating its policies on dangerous organisations and individuals, while a spokesperson for Tate declined to comment when asked by Mirror Fighting. Tate is known for his controversial opinions on women and masculinity, and is a divisive figure on social media.

He is currently being touted as a potential opponent for one of Logan or Jake Paul, who have both expressed interest in fighting him in the boxing ring. During his kick-boxing career, he won the ISKA world title on four separate occasions at different weights, and returned to the ring for a brief comeback in 2020.

Tate, alongside his brother Tristan whose accounts remain in tact, had amassed a monstrous following of over 4.7m on Instagram, with more fans on Facebook. He is believed to have somewhere in the region of 200,000 paid subscribers to his Hustler's University service where he teaches fans to make money through a variety of different methods.

Part of the subscription service, which costs £36 per month, is an affiliate marketing scheme where fans earn a percentage of the first months' subscription when they get someone to sign up. These links are promoted by sharing clips on social media that will go viral and prove controversial, attracting a massive audience.

Tate recently met with Jake Paul's manager Nakisa Bidarian as talks appear to be underway for a possible fight between he and one of the Paul brothers. He shared a photo with Bidarian captioned "with the accountant", sending social media into a frenzy as fans began to discuss the potential bout.

Paul recently gave brother Logan his blessing to fight Tate but thinks the controversial kickboxer wouldn't be willing to fight either of them. During a recent episode of Impaulsive, the elder Paul's podcast, he asked his younger brother: "Jake, I know he's been talking s*** about you bro, but with your blessing can I beat the s*** out of Andrew f****ng Tate?".

Jake gave his brother approval, replying: "100 per cent, but I don't think he would fight us. I think it's too big of a risk for him because he's alpha male, that's his thing. When he loses, his whole schtick goes out of the window."
