Breathtaking photo shows 'wall of fog' on iconic Scottish bridge

A CONTRAST in weather temperatures has created a stunning picture of a wall of fog in the middle of the bridge in Queensferry.

The picture snapped the moment drivers on the Queensferry Crossing exited a wall of fog into the sunshine this Friday afternoon.

The phenomenon is described by the National Weather Service as advection fog and it is caused when two different types of air mix, causing the hotter air to cool rapidly and condense, forming a thick wall of fog.

Scots will be delighted this afternoon and early evening as a rare forecast for sunny skies has been issued by the Met Office.

The good weather is set to continue for Saturday as it is expected to be sunny and slightly cloudy in most parts of the country with the mercury in some areas reaching the mid-twenties.

Some areas are expecting some light rain later on in the day, but for the most part it is expected to remain dry and partially sunny.
