Before news broke that the Jets had finally acquired Aaron Rodgers from the Packers, they announced the re-signing of center Connor McGovern.
McGovern tested free agency and found his market was not as strong as he thought it would be and wound up returning to the Jets on a very cheap deal. His contract is worth $1.915 million for one year with $1.25 million guaranteed including a $750,000 signing bonus.

That’s even less guaranteed money than what the Jets gave Wes Schweitzer, who was guaranteed $3.165 million on his two-year, $5 million contract which included a $1.5 million signing bonus, double what McGovern got.
Of note, Schweitzer is more of a guard for the Jets but can play center if need be. Still, it’s interesting to note what McGovern’s market wound up being, or lack thereof. This is also a huge dropoff from McGovern’s previous deal which averaged $9 million per year. This also shouldn’t preclude the Jets from taking an interior offensive lineman or pure center in the draft.
