Contestant argues with Lee Mack after 1% Club question deemed misleading

Comedian Lee Mack offered to take a contestant "outside" to settle a dispute during a popular quiz programme. During Saturday night's show of The 1% Club the contestant claimed an answer was rather misleading.

The quiz show invited viewers to find out if they are amongst the brightest people in the country, with Lee hosting the show, which lets members of the public test their knowledge in the hopes of winning money. Throughout the show the number of players is cut through a series of questions, with one particular problem proving to be the end for a lot of them.

The 60% question was 'Which of the following words would fit into this group of words: Tiny, Small, Little. The possible answers for the question were Second, Minute, Hour reports Chronicle Live.

The correct answer was Minute, but 19 people got it wrong. Lee said: "I think some of you accidentally read it as minute (measure of time)."

One the players, Nicholas, told Lee: "I thought I had it bang on," having gone for second, thinking that was the smallest amount of time. Lee replied: "That's quite a good answer.

"Can we just let him through anyway? No, okay."

The presenter was then stopped in his tracks as a contestant named Hannah put her hand up to get his attention. She then told Lee: "Minute and minute are spelt the same; second is shorter than a minute."

Lee responded: "'I'm not being rude, what do you want me to do about it?" to which Hannah replied: "Well it's wrong."

The host stood his ground and told her: "It's not wrong, you've just thought of another answer which is not quite as right." He then joked: "I don't want to sound too aggressive, but do you want to sort this out in the car park?

"Me and you outside now." Hannah replied: "Yep, gloves are on!"
