Contemporary artists channel their inner Poe

A group of Chinese and international artists have joined hands to form a unified identity to touch on the concept of reality during "A Dream Within A Dream", which is running at Tang Contemporary Art until May 3.

The exhibition's title is taken from a poem of the same name written by American poet Edgar Allan Poe in 1849. It is one of his most famous and darkest poems in which he implies the unpredictable contingencies of life and questions if anyone can prevent and control these uncertainties.

Are the memories we cherish solid in reality or are they just segments in our dreams? If the latter is the case, isn't our life only a dream within a dream composed of fantasies and memories?

While the line between dream and reality is perplexing and arduous, the eight international artists -- Ai Weiwei, Ayka Go, Dinh Q Le, Gerald Davis, Raffy Napay, Wang Jian Wei, Yue Minjun and Yunizar -- share the sense of reality through their creations.

Using various techniques and styles, their diverse forms of reality are unveiled to take viewers to explore the idea that "all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream".

Tang Contemporary Art is located at River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24 and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
