The American Accountability Foundation, a conservative government research nonprofit, has compiled a list of top bureaucrats at the Department of Education that it recommends President-elect Donald Trump should dismiss. The nonprofit, funded by The Heritage Foundation, published the list on its website, naming 19 individuals as 'America's Most Subversive Education Bureaucrats.'
AAF President Tom Jones, a former Republican congressional staffer, emphasized that the list was not created at the request of the Trump transition team. Jones stated that the organization believes it is crucial for the public to understand that certain civil servants within the federal government, particularly at the Department of Education, may have personal agendas that do not align with the will of the American people.
The individuals on the list are accused of supporting progressive initiatives such as student loan bailouts, increased regulations on online class partnerships, and targeting Christian and career colleges. Jones highlighted instances where Department of Education employees were allegedly involved in investigations against certain educational institutions and policies that the AAF views as detrimental.
The AAF criticized the salaries of these bureaucrats, noting that some earn over $200,000 annually while the average American teacher's salary is significantly lower. Jones expressed hope that the incoming administration would address these issues and remove individuals who do not align with its education agenda.
The AAF also compiled a similar list targeting Department of Homeland Security employees in the past. In response, DHS Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas condemned any attempts to harass or intimidate public servants. Jones criticized Mayorkas for allegedly using government resources to suppress organizations like the AAF.
Overall, the AAF's efforts aim to bring attention to what it perceives as ideological biases within government agencies and advocate for changes that align with conservative principles.
