UFC star Conor McGregor plans to add another belt to his collection as he wants to fight for the symbolic 'BMF' title.
McGregor, 34, is gearing up to make his UFC return against Michael Chandler but an official announcement hasn't been made for the fight. It's expected to take place at UFC 296 on December 16, but this may not be the case as McGregor needs to complete six months of mandatory drug testing before fighting and he is yet to re-enter the USADA testing pool.
The Irishman post a number of tweets whilst watching UFC 290 on Saturday night, one of which outlined his intentions to fight the 'baddest motherf*****' belt. Not recognised as an official world title, Jorge Masvidal stopped Nate Diaz to win the title when they fought over three years ago. Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will now compete for the belt later this month after Masvidal's retirement from fighting in April.

"How many belts can one man win," McGregor tweeted along with a picture of him holding up his two UFC world titles in the background. "And don’t think for one second that the BMF belt isn’t being lined up specifically for the Mac Dad. Little one division twerps," a follow-up tweet from the Irishman read.
McGregor became the first UFC fighter to capture belts in two weight classes as he knocked out Jose Aldo to win the featherweight crown in 2015 and stopped Eddie Alvarez the following year to win the lightweight belt. 'Notorious' wants to win a third world title by competing for the welterweight crown and has even welcomed the idea of fighting at middleweight.
Fans have since questioned McGregor's call to fight for the 'BMF' belt, as one user wrote: "The number one sign of a fighting realising they’re not championship material is them asking to fight for the BMF belt." A second comment read: "McGregor vs Dan Hooker for the BMF belt. Dan will heal and Conor will KO Chandler. Simple."
McGregor was heavily linked to a fight against Masvidal for the symbolic title but 'Gamebred' claimed UFC boss Dana White didn't want to make the fight. Speaking after the conclusion of the UFC 290 event, White welcomed the idea of Masvidal wrapping the 'BMF' belt around the waist of either Poirier or Gaethje after their fight for the title.
