Conor McGregor told to "stay in your lane" after calling out three UFC champions

Conor McGregor has been mocked by fans after seemingly welcoming fights with three UFC champions upon his return.

McGregor, 34, hasn't fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight last July. The Irishman was expected to make his octagon return this year, but that has been pushed back as he continues to recover from his injury. McGregor is also set to take part in filming later this month for his appearance in the remake of Road House.

Following Leon Edwards' UFC title win against Kamaru Usman last weekend, McGregor has been very active on social media. Whilst teasing his return to the cage, McGregor seemingly welcomed a fight with newly-crowned welterweight champion Edwards, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and even light-heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka.

Who should Conor McGregor fight in his UFC return? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below

"So we’ve got the 170lb Jamaican British Leon. We’ve got the 185lb Nigerian New Zealander, The Stylebender Izzy, and we’ve got the Czech Samurai, Jiří Procházka. Gis a bell I’ll be out at sea for the next what, 40 seconds then I’m back. Quick rip. Call me anytime - Heavy shoulders," he wrote. McGregor also shares the same management company as all three of the aforementioned champions, which could be another reason for his cryptic tweet.

Fans have since reacted to McGregor's tweet, with one telling the Irishman that he wouldn't beat featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski let alone the other champions he mentioned. "Dude, you couldn't even beat the 145lb champ right now. Stay in your lane bruh," they wrote. Another added: "You're so happy that Usman lost, it's crazy how low you get. I feel bad for the former double champ. Get a belt first if you want to talk so much."

One user fears that McGregor's words could come back to haunt him when he fights again, writing: "I do wonder, you’re a show man and selling your arrival back to the sport but, with recent losses is it wise making all these comments? I mean, if you lose you’re going to be perceived very poorly." By the time McGregor returns to the cage, three years would have passed since his last UFC win.

Another user believes McGregor is no longer relevant and would be beaten by all three champions listed in his tweet, writing: "You're taking the whole 'not relevant anymore' thing pretty hard, huh? All those mentioned will mop the floor with you. Out of the cage way too long. Stick to being your own yacht captain!"
