Conor McGregor was told to 'put your phone down' after he a fired off a string of late night tweets.

McGregor was glued to the couch for a big night on combat sports with both the World Heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk versus Anthony Joshua and UFC 278 taking place.

As coverage aired of the heavyweight clash from Saudi Arabia, McGregor fired a number of tweets aimed at Carl Froch.

And McGregor stayed active on social media as he posted a string of tweets during UFC 278.

McGregor said during the heavyweight boxing clash: "Champ champ ye! Haha What’s up lad I’m on the yacht"

While at 6.16 am he said: "Ya’s’r all shite bags don’t forget it."

And a number of fans told McGregor to put the phone away as he continued to tweet.

One user said: "You need to put the phone down"

While another said: "Put your phone down"

While another said: "Put your phone away"

Leon Edwards upset the odds in the early hours of Sunday morning after he Knocked Out reigning wleterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

McGregor also claimed that he has eyed up a title shot in that division.

He said: "I’d love a crack at this title somewhere down the line gimme gimme gimme"
