Fans have hit out at UFC star Conor McGregor following his recent outburst with Irish comedian PJ Gallagher.
McGregor, 34, has been involved in Twitter spats with the likes of friend-turned-rival Artem Lobov and former opponent Nate Diaz in the past few days. The former two-weight champion baffled fans when he took aim at Gallagher, a 47-year-old comedian from Dublin.
After UFC analyst Laura Sanko mistakingly listed McGregor on her list of the best active fighters from the UK, Gallagher shared the picture to his Twitter and wrote: "Normally this kind of thing winds me up, but they can have this lad." McGregor then replied to his countryman by tweeting a picture of him on a talk show with the caption: "Sit up you little disgrace of my man."

The spat was going on whilst the World Cup final was taking place, which prompted one user to write to McGregor: "Footballs on son, give your head a wobble." Another fan admitted they were struggling to keep up with the people McGregor is feuding with, adding: "Who is he even beefing at this point, I'm lost."
Fans will be hoping McGregor is less active on social media in the New Year as he gears up to make his fighting return. 'Notorious' hasn't fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight last July, being sidelined with his injury ever since. The Irishman is hoping to expose a loophole in the UFC's drug-testing policy to make his return in the first quarter of 2023, but he will likely be unable to fight until the summer at the earliest.
McGregor recently lost his spot in the UFC lightweight rankings, marking his first time out of any top 15 in the promotion in eight years. 'Notorious' had briefly been ranked at 170lb, the weight class he is planning to return at next year, having beaten Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone in the division.
Several opponents are on the table for McGregor's comeback fight, with former lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler expected to be the frontrunner. McGregor also recently expressed an interest in settling his rivalry with Diaz in the UFC's new Power Slap league, which is dubbed as the "world’s premier competitive slapping promotion".
"This power slap championships is growing on me," McGregor wrote. "Who doesn’t like watching good quality clatters hahaha. How long do they have to recover before they get to throw their counter? Or is it over if they’re knocked out? Me Vs Nate on it for the title hahahaha maybe that’s a title you’d have a better chance of coming close to winning Nate you little slapper."
