Conor McGregor told he is "embarrassing" himself after recent Instagram post

Conor McGregor has been told to stop messing around and return to the gym after he posted pictures of himself lighting a joint on his yacht.

The Notorious has not fought since suffering a horror leg break in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last summer. He has yet to return to full-time training and looks unlikely to return to the cage before the New Year.

McGregor has not been slow to enjoy the trappings of fame, however, and has spent plenty of time aboard his plush yacht. He recently celebrated his 34th birthday in Ibiza and he is showing no signs of bringing the party to a close, reports The Mirror.

But after posting photos of himself smoking, fans took to social media to express their frustrations. 'This guy will never be serious again," said one. "it makes me sad, imagine if he was still as hungry." Another said simply: "Stop smoking man".

Another supporter made an emotional plea, writing: "It really sucks seeing an iconic athlete embarrass himself on a platform. As a father I would never want my child to see something like this on a national scale. You never saw public displays like this from Kobe, LeBron, Brady, the list is endless."

Others were more sympathetic but believe his lifestyle does not lend itself to a successful comeback. "Good to see u enjoying the good life. But ur time fighting is all done champ! Enjoy life," said one fan. "Great example for kids this lad? Wise up," said another, while McGregor was criticised for not living up to his fans' expectations when one said: "Your lack of motivation is an insult to the people who believe in you."

McGregor has made no secret of his lifestyle, posting a series of rambling voice messages on social media over the weekend. Having reflected on the main and co-main events at UFC 277 on Saturday night, he said: "Congrats to all the great goers out there, it was a great watch and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

"I've just enjoyed a fresh kill on board, on the triple deck. Scrambled egg and rashers, porridge, blueberry smoothie. The coffee is en-route, a few hits of a blunt.. big blunts, big blunts."
