UFC legend Conor McGregor was in attendance to watch the action unfold at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix weekend. The Irishman was accompanied by his wife and two of their children as they turned up on his luxurious €3m Lamborghini yacht.
The 33-year-old posted a series of snaps to Instagram, beaming with pride as he enjoyed his time at the iconic street circuit. Always a highlight of the motorsport calendar , this year's edition takes place on Sunday with McGregor describing it as 'a dream' of his to one day be there in person.
He wrote: "Pulling into Monaco for the @f1 Grand Prix! A dream come true for me." England stars Phil Foden and Mason Mount were also in attendance as they posed for a photo which was posted on F1’s official twitter account.
“England’s finest in Monaco!”, they wrote, while Mount added on his special media platforms: “F1 debut. From the pitch to the pit lane.” Foden, fresh off winning another Premier League title with Manchester City, arrived at the Red Bull Racing Energy Station in a pair of shorts with a matching t-shirt.
Mount had a chat with Sky Sports and expressed his excitement with Todd Boehly preparing to officially take over the West London club from Roman Abramovich. “We were obviously in and around [the title race] until about midway through,” he said while taking in the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying alongside Tottenham defender Eric Dier.
“Disappointing that we fell off a bit but that’s obviously the goal for next season, we want to close that gap. We want to be up there. It’s an exciting time now with the owners being confirmed today, going forward it’s going to be exciting and obviously the era under Roman has been brilliant. We look forward now and it’s exciting stuff, can’t wait to get back to it.”
Dier explained Netflix ’s Drive to Survive sparked his love for F1. “The last couple of years just with Drive to Survive like a lot of people,” the defender said. “This is my first F1, and to be in Monaco is incredible.” Also spotted at the iconic street circuit was Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who wore a bold shirt and sunglasses and stopped for a chat with Sky Sports F1.
When asked about former club Arsenal’s failure to secure Champions League football, he said: "Yeah (they came) really close. I think they did a lot of improvements. And I'm a bit sad because I wanted to catch them in the Champions League. I have a lot of friends over there but I'm wishing them all the best for next season.
"Obviously I think it's going to be a good thing to get back to the Europa League as well for them and hopefully they can win it." The Monaco GP always attracts some of the world’s top celebrities and another chapter in the famous street races’ history will be written tomorrow afternoon as Charles Leclerc sealed pole position in today's qualifying.
