Conor McGregor shows off body transformation with “boy to man” photos

Conor McGregor has shown off his body transformation from a "boy to a "man" as he continues his path to a UFC return.

The Irish star has been holidaying in the Bahamas as he continues his recovery from a broken leg suffered against Dustin Poirier last July.

His weight has been a frequent talking point since his recovery began with the Irishman previously claiming he is currently walking around at 190lbs.

McGregor has now shown off the difference in his body from young years posting his transformation on Instagram, with the caption: "Boy to Man."

He posted previous snaps of his return to training which included a "jacked" McGregor when he previously claimed he was weighing around 190lbs.

The 33-year-old bumped into musician Justin Bieber on his recent vacation which sparked fans who were impressed with his new physique.

Worries have been expressed by many inside the sport that McGregor's current weight could spell an end to his lightweight career.

He was branded as a "light-heavyweight" by many including his coach John Kavanagh who continued to confirm that McGregor will look to shed his weight and target a return at 155lbs.

Kavanagh also ruled out a return to 145lbs where he previously became world champion and believed he looked "unhealthy".

“You might have seen some extreme pictures of Conor from years ago when he was fighting in the lower weight classes in the UFC," Kavanagh said on an Instagram live session.

"They were very extreme and they were all done under the eyes of a medical professional. Even he himself wouldn’t ever go back to those weight classes now.

“It’s not healthy, and it’s not for the longterm. I would encourage you to look at his more recent pictures he’s putting up on Instagram.

"Look how big and strong that looks. That’s what it is to be a fighter, get big, get strong, and be healthy for life."

McGregor has previously fought at 170lbs where he made the two-weight jump after defeating Jose Aldo to face Nate Diaz.

The UFC superstar's only other win in his last four fights came against Donald Cerrone which also was fought at a weight limit of 170lbs.

He is without a win at 155lbs since 2016 but will likely target a return at lightweight in a bid to redeem his sliding ranking of ninth position in the official rankings.

An immediate title shot has been talked up by McGregor with the current champion Charles Oliveira has admitted he is "waiting" for.

However McGregor's return is unlikely to take place until the latter stages of the year according to his manager Tim Simpson.

“Really that’s on Conor [when to return], but I expect this year," Simpson told the MMA Hour. "He is in the Bahamas with his family right now and is focusing on other business ventures.

“I don’t think it will be in the summer but it will definitely be some stage this year. Maybe we see when the lightweight title fight happens and go then."
