Conor McGregor has mocked Kamaru Usman 's wealth after the welterweight champion criticised his recent training video.
McGregor has posted several videos of himself hitting pads at the Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin as he continues to recover from a broken tibia.
The Dubliner confirmed with Mirror Fighting that he wants to face Usman in the hopes of becoming the first-ever three-weight UFC champion.
Posting a video of himself training, McGregor wrote: "I’m gonna break a head with these, add it to the list of heads". Usman then mocked McGregor's SBG teammate Dillon Danis by replying: "Even [Dillon] Danis looks ok on pads lol".
In a now-deleted tweet, McGregor wrote back to his rival: “Put your money where your mouth is then, oh wait," followed by a laughing emoji. Usman made a reported $1million for his last fight, but the payday is still a lot less than the money McGregor has made during his UFC career.
Usman is pencilled in to defend his welterweight title against Leon Edwards in July, but McGregor could jump ahead of the Brit to face the pound-for-pound No.1. After McGregor's call to fight him, Usman tweeted: "You guys want a murder scene in the octagon".
Having previously knocked out Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez to win the featherweight and lightweight titles, McGregor is targeted another knockout against Usman to win titles in three weight classes, all by stoppage.
“I’ve already won the 155lb title," he told The Mac Life. "I got myself down to a lightweight frame, but I’m big now. I feel strong, I feel healthy, I’ve got good energy. I’m coming back after a gruesome injury. I do not want to deplete myself, there should be no need to deplete myself.
"I feel confident against Usman. A jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What’s he going to do? Where’s the danger here? I don’t see a danger with him. His ground-and-pound isn’t strong, plus he’s on the older side."
"The triple crown. No one’s ever obtained three knockouts in three weight divisions moving up like I have already, but no one’s ever obtained three UFC world titles cross three divisions like I will do also if we make this fight."
