Conor McGregor has laughed at Kamaru Usman for delaying his UFC comeback because of a hand injury.
Usman is pencilled in to defend his welterweight title against No.2 contender Leon Edwards at UFC 276 on July 2. But the Nigerian Nightmare is unlikely to make that date after the recovery from his hand surgery back in February is taking longer than expected.
"The hand is dong a little better," he told reporters at UFC 274. "I saw the doctor this week and I can start to make light contact with the hands. That's just what sucks with these things, when you are dealing with tendons that are a lot tougher to heal right away. Especially when they are on top of the knuckles.
When asked for an exact date of his return, Usman replied: "I hate being wrong, so I don't want to throw a time on it but rest assured, I want to be back in there as soon as possible." McGregor has now responded to his comments with several laughing face emojis on Twitter.
The promotion have already found a new main event for UFC 276 in Israel Adesanya vs Jared Cannonier. No pay-per-view events have been officially announced for August, whilst UFC 277 on July 30 is still without a headlining fight.
McGregor has outlined his plans to return at 170lbs for his comeback fight later this year, calling for a title shot against Usman. 'Notorious' hasn't fought since breaking his tibia against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight last July.
The Irishman has dismissed Usman's skillset and thinks he poses no "danger" in a potential fight: "I feel confident against Usman. A jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What’s he going to do? Where’s the danger here? I don’t see a danger with him. His ground-and-pound isn’t strong, plus he’s on the older side," McGregor told The Mac Life.

"The triple crown. No one’s ever obtained three knockouts in three weight divisions moving up like I have already, but no one’s ever obtained three UFC world titles cross three divisions like I will do also if we make this fight."
Usman has laughed off McGregor's call out by vowing to " murder " him if the pair meet in the octagon. McGregor has also been called out by former champion Charles Oliveira, who was stripped of his lightweight title after missing weight for his win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.
