Conor McGregor leaves cheeky comment on Paige VanZant Instagram post

Conor McGregor left a cheeky comment on Paige VanZant's recent Instagram post that has left fans talking.

Former UFC star VanZant, who is now a bare-knuckle boxer and professional wrestler, shared a photo of her warming up for a session in the wrestling ring.

And eagle-eyed fight fans noticed that McGregor had left a message underneath with a tongue-in-cheek reply, reports The Mirror.

VanZant had captioned her image "you can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both."

McGregor hit back in the comments section by saying "I can", in reference to his comfortable lifestyle since becoming one of the world's highest-paid athletes.

She was asked by a fan in a Q&A on her Instagram story today if she had seen McGregor's comment, to which she replied that she hadn't.

Both VanZant and McGregor are well-known for the exploits in the octagon, but have made millions outside of competition. McGregor owns a clothing line, has a number of high-profile endorsements and made what will reportedly amount to around $700million from the sale of his majority share in Proper 12 whiskey.

Meanwhile, VanZant has become wealthy not only from her mega-money contract with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where she's headlined two pay-per-view shows already, but a series of other engagements. She has a subscription service with Fantime where she sells exclusive content, as well as a number of brand deals on her social media pages.

Both McGregor and VanZant have made enough money that they could retire from their respective sports, although they both insist that they compete for the love of the game as opposed to financial rewards. The American is currently working towards her AEW debut, as well as a BKFC return expected to take place in July.

McGregor is recovering from a gnarly broken leg suffered at the hands of Dustin Poirier in his last UFC outing, and is expected to return to action much later this year. He has shared a number of videos hitting pads, and returned to boxing sparring last month during a brief few rounds with pal Cian Cowley.

However, he has yet to return to training at SBG Ireland, where he works under John Kavanagh for his full MMA sessions. He is still awaiting medical clearance to return to full contact sparring, and as such his expected comeback to competition won't happen until later this year.

The Irishman was in attendance for VanZant's husband Austin Vanderford's last fight with Gegard Mousasi in Dublin. Vanderford was pumped up behind the scenes by McGregor for his Bellator world title fight, but ultimately lost a first round TKO after a dominant showing from the reigning champion.
