The Irishman was found liable of assaulting Nikita Hand in civil court last Friday, and now must pay her £200,000. However, McGregor continues to maintain his innocence, vowing to appeal the decision.

Conor McGregor Makes Public Statement On Social Media, Plans UFC Comeback
People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me.
As much as I…

Although the jury found Conor McGregor liable of assaulting Ms Hand in civil court, the former UFC star and history making MMA fighter has totally denied any wrongdoing of sexual assault. There is no denying that he ‘stepped out’ on Dee Devlin, but he contests that any foul play occurred. The full statement reads:
“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches.
“I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me.
“As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.
“I can’t go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”
Time will tell what happens next with Conor McGregor. This situation is still very much hot off the press, and could go on for even longer now that he has insisted he is appealing the decision and that nothing nonconsensual happened with Ms Hand.
A return to the UFC in 2025 seems unlikely, but it isn’t totally beyond the realms of possibility. The 36-year-old has said in his statement that he is getting back to the gym right away, and that he most definitely wants to continue fighting in the UFC.
