Conor McGregor has suggested that comments about his UFC return being delayed until the autumn are "garbage".
McGregor is currently in the final stages of his rehabilitation from the broken leg he suffered against Dustin Poirier last summer.
He has returned to boxing training and hopes to resume sparring next month before a cage comeback at International Fight Week in July.
But UFC president Dana White has said this week that the Irishman may not be ready until the autumn.
McGregor later tweeted, without context: "Garbage comments" before tweeting "Garbage" in Irish.
The Dubliner has lost three of his last four fights but has demanded a lightweight title shot on his return.
The current 155lb champion Charles Oliveira will defend his belt against Justin Gaethje on May 7 with McGregor angling for a shot at the winner.
And McGregor told Severe MMA last month: "July seems OK for me. I can't say too early.
"April they said I can spar and box again so I can take it day-by-day. Once I return to sparring I will know my weight, I will know how I feel and I will know my style."
McGregor will face competition from Islam Makhachev for a title shot but could be handed a boost if the Russian is forced to reschedule his clash with Beneil Dariush.

Two other lightweight contenders, Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler, will also clash in May but the winner is not expected to be handed the chance to win gold.
McGregor has not won at 155lb since he dethroned Eddie Alvarez in arguable his best-ever performance in 2016.
He went on to lose to Floyd Mayweather in his professional boxing debut before he was choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor bounced back with a 40-second demolition of Donald Cerrone before losing back-to-back fights with Poirier last year.
