UFC legend Conor McGregor has spoken on the potential of fighting Paddy Pimblett in the future - which would be sure to be one of the biggest draws in the history of the industry.
Pimblett has stated that his desire is to work his way up to fighting legends of the sport like McGregor, but knows he must go through several unranked fighters to do so as he climbs his way up the ladder.
McGregor is currently recovering from a broken tibia which he suffered in his third fight with Dustin Poirier, and hopes to return to the octagon later this year. Meanwhile Pimblett will fight Rodrigo 'Kazula' Vargas at UFC London on March 19.
Arguably the biggest draw in the sport, all of McGregor fights since 2015 have been viewed by over one million people. A fight with the Irishman would present Pimblett with a huge opportunity to establish himself as a star within the company.
Pimblett has made as impressive a start to a UFC career as anyone could hope for having signed in 2021, announcing himself with a stunning first-round TKO win over Luigi Vendramini, and he's already caught the attention of McGregor.
"He's a good kid, Paddy... You've got to love the Scousers," McGregor told SecondsOut. "You know my father was born in Liverpool.
"One side of my family is from there. So I've got a lot of love for that part of the world. And who knows? You know, I will never say no to nothing. You know, never say never, as they say."
Including his Cage Warriors career, Pimblett now boasts an impressive record of 17 wins and just three losses.
The 26-year-old is on a four-year deal with Dana White’s promotion, but given his increasing popularity and potential, Pimblett has leapfrogged many UFC fighters to become a household name just one fight into his career within the company.
In an interview with ESPN, Pimblett admitted that he's already eyeing a fight with McGregor.
He said: "Yeah, besides him because he has the name. I know for a fact if I fought him it would be the most box offices sold ever. Without a shadow of a doubt.
"People want to see him get beat and people want to see him win and people want to see me get beat and people want to see me win."
