Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor finds himself embroiled in yet another legal battle as a woman has filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault following an incident at the 2023 NBA Finals in Miami. The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, January 15, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleges that McGregor sexually assaulted the plaintiff in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center after Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets on June 9, 2023.
Allegations and Legal Action
The plaintiff, described as a 49-year-old Miami-Dade County resident who works as a vice president at a high-profile financial institution on Wall Street, claims that McGregor “intentionally engaged in unlawful sexual contact” without her consent1. The lawsuit not only targets McGregor but also alleges gross negligence on the part of the Kaseya Center staff and security.

According to the complaint, the incident unfolded in the Courtside Club inside the Kaseya Center. The lawsuit alleges that a member of McGregor’s team approached the woman, stating that “Conor told me to come get you,” and grabbed her wrist despite her protests. The situation escalated when McGregor allegedly led the woman into a men’s restroom stall, where the assault is said to have taken place.
The plaintiff’s attorney, Jim Dunn, stated that his client decided to pursue this civil case to “raise awareness and encourage others to report sexual assault”. This legal action comes after the Florida State Attorney’s Office declined to press criminal charges following an investigation in October 2023.
McGregor’s Response and Previous Incidents
McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, has vehemently denied the allegations, stating, “After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue”. Llanes further asserted that they are confident this case will also be dismissed.
This is not the first time McGregor has faced such accusations. In November 2024, a separate case in Dublin resulted in McGregor being found liable for sexual assault, though not for rape, and ordered to pay nearly $235,000 in damages.

The lawsuit also references an earlier incident from the same evening, in which McGregor punched the Miami Heat mascot, “Burnie,” during an on-court skit, resulting in the mascot performer’s hospitalization. The plaintiff’s legal team argues that this incident should have alerted arena staff to McGregor’s potential risk.
