Conor McGregor donates €20k to Ballyfermot couple who suffered 'life changing' injuries in traffic collision

Conor McGregor has made a generous donation of €20,000 to a GoFundMe for a Ballyfermot couple who were seriously injured in a traffic collision earlier this month.

On Saturday March 5, Mick and Michelle Cardiff were walking home when two cars collided at the corner of Drumfinn Road and Drumfinn Avenue.

One of the cars lost control and mounted the path where the couple were walking.

Sadly, the pair suffered "life changing injuries" during the accident.

Mick has had one of his legs amputated and both he and Michelle have undergone numerous surgeries over the past week and a half.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the couple on their road to recovery.

Becca Lynch, the creator of the fundraiser, said Mick and Michelle should not have to worry about finances as they recover from their injuries.

She wrote on the page: "Both will have a long road to recovery, but thankfully they do get the chance to recover.

"Mick and Michelle are very well known in the community of Ballyfermot for the selfless work they do. Between volunteering, fundraising, donating and working in the community its clear that they are both dedicated and passionate about helping other people and its time for the community to give back.

"In the coming months when Mick and Michelle return home, they will need a lot of help, care and structural changes to their home. One thing they should not have to worry about is the financial impact of this.

"So if you are in a position to donate any money, please do. If not, please share this link with your family and friends."

Becca thanked the community for their support since the accident.

"On behalf of the Cardiff family, I'd also like to take this opportunity to say thank you so much to every single person who has sent their best wishes and prayers.

"To everyone who has text, called, visited, wrote a card, lit a candle, dropped in a gift, all of your acts of kindness have not gone unnoticed and we are very very grateful. Thank you."

In just two hours, the GoFundMe has raised over €23,000, including the generous €20,000 donation from Conor McGregor.
