Conor McGregor compliments KSI after illegal KO win over Joe Fournier

Conor McGregor admitted that he "liked" the illegal elbow KSI knocked out Joe Fournier with in their boxing match this past weekend.

YouTube boxer KSI remained unbeaten in the ring by stopping professional boxer Fournier in the second round of their fight at the Wembley Arena. 'The Nightmare' had 'boxing billionaire' Fournier badly hurt after landing a big overhand right and he closed the show moments later, but instantly reply of the stoppage showed the fight-ending shot was an illegal elbow.

Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor was quizzed on Twitter about the stoppage, to which he replied: "I seen it, I liked it. He goin’, fair play, KSI." McGregor previously mocked KSI in January ahead of his ill-fated fight against Bellator MMA star Dillon Danis by labelling him a "friendly little nerd", also insisting that he "couldn't care less" about influencer boxing.

McGregor and KSI first crossed paths in 2016 when the pair played each other on the UFC 2 video game ahead of McGregor's lightweight world title fight against Eddie Alvarez. At the time KSI solely focused on his YouTube career but the immensely popular content creator has since crossed over to other avenues such as boxing and music.

KSI admitted that his win against Fournier is tarnished because of the illegal blow he landed, writing: "I worked very hard for this fight and had an intense and gruelling camp. There’s no better feeling than being in that ring and having my hand raised in front of my loyal and amazing fans who I appreciate so much. Unfortunately the victory which was inevitable no matter what, is tarnished and I hate that. It sucks!

"After landing my overhand he was pretty much out on his feet and I went for a short right hook as Joe clinched me and fell into me. I landed that hook and my glove made contact but appears to have been followed by unintentional contact with my forearm. I’m gutted that it’s not as clean a win as I wanted and it feels like it diminishes my hard work with my trainers. Either way I hope you enjoyed the show and appreciate the support. Sorry to all the fans disappointed with it. No one is more so than me."

Fournier plans to appeal the loss with the PBA [Professional Boxing Association] which sanctioned the event. KSI faced off with Love Island star Tommy Fury just moments after his win against Fournier, with all signs pointing towards a summer meeting between the pair as they had to be separated by security after a brief scuffle.
