Conor McGregor brands Floyd Mayweather "full of s***" over $100million boast

Conor McGregor has dismissed "full of s***" Floyd Mayweather's claim he earned $100million for his fight with Logan Paul.

Mayweather has been fighting in a series of exhibitions after retiring following his victory over McGregor in 2017, including his duel with YouTube star Paul last June. The event was viewed as a success with one million pay-per-views sold, that saw the boxing legend claim he earned around $100million.

The former undefeated champion claimed this week he was in the final stages of talks to take on McGregor in a sequel, but the Irishman quickly responded posting an image of the pair fighting on Instagram with the caption "Not interested". Shortly after declining the fight, the Irishman then hit out at Mayweather in a now-deleted tweet, writing: “He also said he made $100m to spar the Logan Paul guy yet never made the Forbes list top 100.

"He hasn’t cleared 20million in one full year since 2017 when we fought the last time. Otherwise he’d have been on the list. He hasn’t made the list since 2017. In other words he’s full of s***." Mayweather did not appear on Forbes' rich list which was topped by McGregor in 2021 after the Dubliner warned $180m.

McGregor fought twice last year, earning around $30m for the fights combined, but his earnings were boosted significantly by the sale of his majority stake in his Proper Twelve whiskey brand. Mayweather, meanwhile, claimed earlier this year that he earns around $300m per month when his investments and exhibition purses are added together, but he estimated his net worth is around $1.2billion.

A large chunk of the pair's significant wealth was created by their fight which was the highest-grossing event in combat sports history generating a total revenue in excess of $600m. McGregor and Mayweather were reported earlier this year to have been in talks for the fight, which the UFC superstar confirmed on social media.

It was later claimed that the pair were now simply 'arguing' over the fight rules, with the fight close to a full agreement. Mayweather has since confirmed the reports and wants the fight to be an exhibition staged in Las Vegas. “I have another exhibition Dubai in November, and me and Conor McGregor in 2023," Mayweather confirmed.

“We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition of a real fight, but there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition. I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment. So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals."
