An Irish football coach has expressed his joy after UFC legend Conor McGregor blocked him on Twitter following a row.
David Ennis, an Irish goalkeeping coach for Canadian side Toronto FC, told the former two-weight UFC champion to leave Katie Taylor alone after McGregor offered to pay the security costs for her homecoming fight at Croke Park against Amanda Serrano. McGregor tweeted: "Monday tomorrow! Let’s keep us posted on Katie Taylor for Croke Park on May 20.
Ennis replied to the tweet: "Leave her alone you [sic] leach," with the goalkeeping coach then posting a screenshot showing McGregor had blocked him after the exchange, captioning the post: "WHAT. A. F***ING. WIN." One user questioned Ennis on why McGregor blocked him, to which he replied: "Years of hard work".

McGregor met with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn at the Black Forge Inn earlier this week to discuss details of Taylor's homecoming fight. Mirror Fighting caught up with the McGregor as he left his Dublin Pub, but he didn't reveal much by stating "we'll see what happens" when asked if he felt a deal would be reached with Hearn.
After the meeting, McGregor confirmed that he will be actively "supporting" the bout. When asked about his negotiations with Hearn, the UFC legend said: "Very well, it's looking good, we're going to support the show and it's looking good." Mirror Fighting understands that the meeting was a last-gasp effort to host the fight at Croke Park and that the 3Arena is all but guaranteed for the May 20 date.
McGregor will look for his first UFC win in over three years when he faces Michael Chandler later this year after coaching against him on The Ultimate Fighter. The Irishman has travelled to Las Vegas today to begin filming for the UFC's reality TV show as he wrote on Instagram: "On my way to Vegas to coach a few kids to a UFC contract. A blessing. A privilege. An honour. My pleasure. Welcome to UFC with the Mac."
The Irishman hasn't fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in their July 2021 trilogy fight at UFC 264. Two years would have passed by the time he returns to the octagon for his fight with Chandler, marking the longest hiatus of his fighting career. McGregor is yet to start the UFC's mandatory six-months of drug testing ahead of his comeback fight, which is expected to take place after August.
