Conor Hazard makes Celtic exit worthwhile as he wins Finnish league title after standout season

Conor Hazard has won trophies before with Celtic - now he's added a Finnish league title to his collection.

The Northern Irish goalkeeper joined HJK Helsinki on loan from Celtic earlier this year for their latest push at the title and on Sunday they claimed their 32nd Finnish championship with a 1-0 Veikkausliiga victory over Haka. David Browne's goal in the first half sealed victory and the title with one game to go in their league season, while they still have their Europa League group to contend with.

HJK will finish off the domestic term with a home match against KuPS while they will also look to extend their campaign with what would be triumphant European progress. Their last game was a 1-1 draw with Ludogorets Razgrad, sitting bottom of Group C with that sole point, with matches against the Bulgarians, Roma and Real Betis still to come.

Hazard said last week of his spell in Helsinki last week after helping earn a first European point, commenting: "It's the first season I have had as a first choice goalkeeper.

"I am just glad I am able to show everybody what I am able to do."

Overall, the Celtic loanee has played 34 times for his adopted club with an impressive 13 clean sheets. The 24-year-old's loan officially ends at the end of this year and his contract at Parkhead expires next summer.
