Conor Gallagher set for Chelsea stay as no suitable offers arrive before transfer deadline

Conor Gallagher is set to stay at Chelsea after no suitable offers were presented to the midfielder.

Gallagher only wanted to leave for another ‘Big Six’ club or a team challenging for Europe.

Newcastle were interested in a loan move for Gallagher but Chelsea were not willing to offload him to a direct rival for European places.

Everton made a £45million bid for Gallagher on Monday, while Crystal Palace and West Ham also explored a loan move for the 22-year-old.

But Gallagher rejected a move to Everton and is now expected to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Chelsea were hoping for offers close to £50m for the England international but Graham Potter still regards him as important, even though he is a sellable asset for the club.

Gallagher has played in all-but one of the Premier League matches he has been available for this season and is happy to remain at Stamford Bridge.
