Conor Gallagher hails Crystal Palace for giving Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell England ‘platform’

Conor Gallagher believes Crystal Palace deserve “a lot of credit” for helping put Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell on the path to becoming England internationals.

The two made their debuts on Saturday as Gareth Southgate’s side edged past Switzerland at Wembley, with Chelsea loanee Gallagher making his first start for the country.

The sight of three Palace players representing England is testament to the quick-fire rebuild Patrick Vieira has undertaken at Selhurst Park, as well as the ambitious drive of those above him to change the direction of a team who had gone somewhat stale under Roy Hodgson.

Guehi, a big summer signing from Chelsea, has started all but one of Palace’s Premier League games this season, while Mitchell - picked up as a teenager from Brentford - is yet to miss one.

Into the FA Cup semi-finals and sitting comfortably in mid-table, Gallagher moved to praise the club for the trust they have put in young players.

“They both deserve it,” said the midfielder after the victory.

“They’ve been brilliant for Palace this season.

“A lot of credit to Crystal Palace for giving them the platform to show what they can do and, yeah, they have been fantastic and they deserve it.”
