Conor Carty admits it was a mutual decision to leave Wolves over the summer and is glad to have been granted an opportunity at Bolton Wanderers.
Carty was at Molineux for some five years after joining the club from St Francis in Dublin when he was 14. He featured for the club's youth teams but never made a first team appearance.
The 20-year-old departed Wolves over the summer and subsequently joined Wanderers. He was signing for the club's new B team initially.

Carty has now spoken on his exit from Wolves and the decision to move to Wanderers, which he believes was a mutual one between him and the Premier League side. He is enjoying learning his trade in Bolton's B team and the chances it offers to catch the eye and make the step up to the senior side.
He said: “My contract was running up at Wolves and I wanted somewhere I could go to get an opportunity. I got one here, I’m happy to get a goal.
“I think it was a mutual decision in the end. They knew I wanted to play regular football and they knew I had to move on to do that.
“We’re all learning, getting a lot of games whether that is as a friendly or in the Central League. And the manager comes to watch every single one so you know if you are doing well you might get that spot on the bench and an opportunity.
“Every game should be competitive. I have found the standard of football has been great. Playing against Blackpool the other week they played a really strong side, so it is doing us good.
“I am loving it here. I am playing up front with Gez, who has a few League One appearances under his belt from Gillingham, so playing alongside him has been great. I have been on the scoresheet a couple of times, so I am happy."
Carty grabbed his first senior goal for Bolton last night as he came off the bench to score the equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Tranmere Rovers in the Papa Johns Trophy last night. Wanderers lost 5-4 in the resulting penalty shootout.
The striker described his goal as bittersweet owing to the loss on penalties despite finding the back of the net. Now that he has had a taste of first team football, he is eager to have more of it in the future.
He said: “It was kind of a bittersweet moment. It was great to get the goal on my debut but to lose on penalties is tough.
“To get to penalties was okay, I suppose. There was a bit of a shake-up at half time but we managed to get a couple of goals and force it into pens.
“I just saw it was there to be hit. Jon got the flick on, it was bouncing and thankfully it went in.
“I definitely want more now. Hopefully I can keep going for the B Team and then when the manager calls and offers that opportunity, I need to take it.
“He comes to watch all the games, he knows what is going on home and away, has his take on it, so if we are playing well then you might get that chance.
“At Wolves they had staff watching us and making notes – but having the manager seeing us here first hand is great.
“I have (trained with the first team) on the odd occasion and we did on Monday because he knew we would be involved.
“I am learning a lot and enjoying it. Hopefully now I can keep getting my name in there for the B Team and give the manager something to think about.”
