Connor Ronan set for Wolves loan exit as Aberdeen and Hibs on alert ahead of January transfer window

Connor Ronan looks set to leave Wolves in January with the club likely to sanction a loan move for the midfielder.

The Republic of Ireland international has been a long-term target for Aberdeen and Hibs. The Scottish Premiership pair, along with Hearts, were keen to land the 24-year-old in the last window but he was given the chance to fight for a first-team slot at Molineux.

Julen Lopetegui has since come in as the new Wolves manager and he is currently analysing his squad. Record Sport understands It is looking increasingly likely that Ronan will be allowed to get out in the new year to get games. He is currently with the Wolves squad on their winter training camp in Marbella but has struggled to force his way into the picture, playing just once in the Premier League and once in the League Cup. There are already Scottish Premiership and English Championship clubs who are watching the midfielder’s situation closely and could make their move next month.

Ronan impressed on loan at St Mirren under Jim Goodwin, and the former Buddies boss is keen to work with the Irishman at PIttodrie once again. Hearts had been interested, but that cooled in the summer after they signed Jorge Grant from Peterborough United.

Lee Johnson is looking to trim his squad when the window opens. But the opportunity to bring in Ronan could prove a tempting one for the Easter Road boss in order to add something different to his midfield.
