Stephen Kenny is considering Connor Ronan for a first full Republic of Ireland call-up.
The on-form St Mirren loanee, who scored a screamer in the weekend Scottish Cup defeat to Hearts, is in his thoughts as Kenny gets ready to name his squad later this week for the two home friendlies against Belgium and Lithuania.
The Irish boss has had Ronan watched regularly in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old, who has netted eight goals this season including a midweek winner against Dundee, also knows the Wolves midfielder well because he previously worked closely with him when he was the Under-21 boss.
Ireland chief Kenny has already shown his willingness to cap St Mirren players when he called up Jamie McGrath before his January move to Wigan.
The national side is in need of a revamp after a disappointing World Cup qualification campaign.
They finished level on points with Luxembourg and some way off top two Serbia and Portugal.
