Connor Ronan forces Aberdeen and Hearts transfer waiting game as Wolves leave Jim Goodwin reunion hanging

Aberdeen and Hearts will need to show patience to land former St Mirren midfielder Connor Ronan. The midfielder is set to return for pre-season with Wolves and boss Bruno Lage wants to run the rule over the Republic of Ireland squad player before he finalises his squad for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The 24-year-old has Barely featured at Molineux and it remains to be seen if the door will open this summer. Ronan impressed while out on loan at St Mirren last season and is wanted by both Aberdeen and Hearts. Dons boss Jim Goodwin took Ronan to St Mirren and is keen to work with him again at Pittodrie.

He was keen to finalise a loan before they jetted out to their Spanish training base today but has been left disappointed. Hearts are also keen on a loan deal that would also offer European football until Christmas. Goodwin has already said he wants to make three or four new signings, with Wigan Athletic’s Jamie McGrath another long-term target.

Midfielder McGrath is also wanted by Dundee United but also worked with Goodwin, successfully, at St Mirren.

The Dons board have already more than backed their manager this summer after they narrowly avoided the bottom two last season.

Aberdeen have paid a significant six figure sum to land pair Bojan Miovski and Ylber Ramadani from relegated Hungarian side MTK Budapest.

He has brought in Liam Scales on-loan from Celtic and signed Jayden Richardson from Nottingham Forest.

Pre-contracts have also been agreed to land Anthony Stewart and keeper Kelle Roos.
