Connor Murray reveals returning to Queen of the South was easy decision

Connor Murray said it was an easy decision to return to Palmerston.

The attacker is one of a number of Wullie Gibson’s new recruits who have previously been with Queens for the new season, which starts next week.

Murray joins Gavin Reilly and Iain Wilson as familiar faces starting another stint with the club.

He said: “I’m delighted to be back.

“This is where I enjoyed my football. I had a good two years at Partick Thistle but I’m glad to be back.

“It was the gaffer getting in touch with me and it went from there really. I wanted to come back. The gaffer told me what he wanted to do and it was an easy decision from there.

“I never played with Gavin Reilly in my first spell but I played with Iain Wilson so I know about him. He’s a good player and I travel in with him in the mornings.”

The 25-year-old has experience in this division and said the club has to aim to get back to the Championship at the first attempt.

He also spoke of his growth as a player since he last played for the Doonhamers.

Murray said: “Hopefully I can bring assists and a few goals.

“I think the squad is good enough and it’s still early so I think the aim has got to be to get back up.

“I’ve improved as a player, definitely. I’ve matured as well and played with Thistle. I feel as if I’ve gotten better as a player.

“The aim has got to be to win the league. Especially coming down from the league above you want to get back to where you came from. That has to be the aim.

“There’s not really much difference between the leagues to be honest.

“Every game is the same as the Championship. I won this league with Thistle and that was good but it’s a battle. Every game is tough and anybody can beat anybody so we need to work hard and try and win every game.”
