Connor Lemonheigh-Evans makes Notts County transfer admission as Kyle Cameron influence revealed

Notts County's newest recruit Connor Lemonheigh-Evans has spoken of his excitement about reuniting with Luke Williams at Meadow Lane but understands the difficulty of fitting his way into this free-scoring Magpies side.

The 26-year-old was announced as a Notts player earlier today, joining on loan from League Two side Stockport County after failing to nail down a regular first-team spot under Dave Challinor.

Having made 19 appearances this season, only one of which was from the start, the Welshman is keen to kickstart his campaign, with the hopes of aiding the Magpies' promotion push for the final 12 games of the National League season.

His addition further adds to the endless striking firepower at Notts' disposal behind Macaulay Langstaff, Cedwyn Scott, Ruben Rodrigues, Sam Austin, and Jodi Jones.

That plethora of attacking talent has amassed 61 goals between them in the league thus far with Lemonheigh-Evans understanding the enormity of the task to break into the first-team but insisted he possesses the quality and character to add to that growing number of goals.

"It's a top squad here and it will probably be difficult for me to get into the team.

"But I will do everything I can to help and to contribute when I do get that chance and I am excited and happy to be here.

"I believe in myself and I believe that if I get the chance to play then I can perform to the level that the lads have been performing too - I back myself and hopefully I get that chance to get in the team."

Following the announcement of his arrival at Meadow Lane earlier today, many were quick to praise one player for their potential involvement in the deal getting over the line.

Notts captain Kyle Cameron was dubbed 'agent Cammy' by the Magpies faithful online with the pair having played together during their time at Torquay, but that wasn't the only familiar face ready to greet him.

Lemonheigh-Evans also featured alongside Aaron Nemane and Frank Vincent during their spells at Plainmoor, while also having shared the pitch with defender Aden Baldwin during his time with Bristol City.

When asked whether Cameron played a pivotal role in his move to Nottingham, Lemonheigh-Evans said: "Not really to be honest.

"I speak to Cammy all the time and he says nothing but good things about the club, so I already knew when the interest came I was coming to a good club with a good set-up and a good group of boys.

"He didn't play much of a part, but he might say that just to wind a couple of people up, but he didn't have too much of an influence in it."

The Magpies have shown an affiliation for attracting players who have scored hat-tricks against them in recent seasons following the acquisition of Jones from Oxford United last month - with the Welshman netting a hat-trick against Ian Burchnall's side last season in their 5-1 defeat at Plainmoor.

But having enjoyed his first day as a Notts player and taking part in their light training session earlier this afternoon, Lemonheigh-Evans is relishing the opportunity to play with this remarkable group of players.

"There are a lot of players that have stood out to me, I have played against Notts four or five times during my time at Torquay and it was always a tough game against them.

"It was always a game where you don't get much of the ball, and from what I have seen in training and team meetings that is probably more of that this season.

"There is a lot of quality in the team and there are a lot of lads that stood out."
