His new contract will tie him down until 2026 in a major boost to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

A club statement read: "#RangersFC today wishes to put on record our sincere thanks to Connor Goldson for his service to the club over the past four years…

"…as we look ahead to the next four years of having him at Ibrox."

Speaking to the Rangers website, boss Van Bronckhorst said: “I am delighted Connor has agreed to remain a Rangers player, as he has been fantastic for me both on and off the pitch since I arrived.

"His leadership is outstanding, and he is a huge influence on so many players around him, while his consistency of performance means he is someone I can always rely on.

“I am really looking forward to seeing Connor back for pre-season in a couple of weeks and to working with him again next year.”

Goldson's decision to stay comes as John Souttar's move to the club was made official today.

He penned a pre-contract in January from Hearts and has now hooked up with his new side.

Steven Davis has also penned a new one-year deal as Van Bronckhorst continues to work hard behind the scenes in preparing for the new campaign.

Allan McGregor is yet to decide on his playing future while a decision over Leon Balogun is yet to be announced.
